Guide the chapter

Plan 1–2 monthly meetings using provided materials, welcome members, coordinate with the advisor, and track the chapter’s work.

Faculty advisor

Provide school support

Help the chapter follow school policies, secure meeting space, and offer adult guidance without having to build the program from scratch.

Members

Make practical progress

Explore careers and majors, find opportunities, build college plans, ask better questions, and help classmates move forward.

How it works

Four steps from interest to impact.

  1. 01

    Choose to lead

A student volunteers to serve as chapter president and begins the school’s club-approval process.

  2. 02

    Find an advisor

A faculty member provides school-required oversight while students lead meetings and activities.

  3. 03

    Use the chapter kit

NextStep provides ready-to-use curriculum, meeting materials, activities, and platform guidance.

  4. 04

    Meet and make progress

The chapter meets 1–2 times per month and tracks practical actions students complete together.

Why lead a chapter?

Leadership that serves a real need.

A chapter president can practice facilitation, project management, communication, outreach, and service while helping classmates navigate important decisions.

That work can strengthen a student’s own story by creating genuine, measurable impact—but it does not guarantee admission or replace sustained academic and personal growth.
